Leader: “A Redesigned Library” Video

Find the original post here.
Know

This video required technical knowledge of different stages in the filmmaking pipeline (storyboarding, scripting, etc.), audio editing/recording techniques, and the entire design thinking process. I feel like the video itself is at the augmentation stage – it augments a normal Powerpoint presentation by being shareable and rewatchable at any time by stakeholders, but isn’t functionally adding much to the task beyond that, despite the processes involved in its creation.

Do

As the “culmination” of a longer design process, this video demonstrates development of a shared vision based on stakeholder engagement and ongoing stakeholder consultation, as well as advocacy for equitable access to technology for all stakeholders. As such, it aligns with the following ISTE standards:

  • “2a: Shape, advance and accelerate a shared vision for empowered learning with technology by engaging with education stakeholders.” (ISTE, n.d.-b)
  • “2b: Advocate for equitable access to educational technology, digital content and learning opportunities to meet the diverse needs of all students.” (ISTE, n.d.-b)
Understand

Going through the entire process will be helpful for me in future tech advocacy efforts at my school as I work to become a technology leader. The adoption of meaningful technology integration by staff and students is an ongoing process that requires someone to spend the time:

  • Getting to know the learning community
  • Setting vision and goals for tech integration
  • Experimenting with, modeling, and advocating for authentic tech integration
  • And assessing our progress through our goals.
